Build Your Career as a Professional English Teacher in India and Abroad
The demand for skilled Communicative English Teachers has never been higher — across CBSE, ICSE, IB and Cambridge IGCSE schools in India, adult spoken-English and IELTS finishing academies, corporate communication departments, and international schools overseas. Here is how to build a sustainable, high-income career as a Professional English Teacher in India and abroad with the BRETS Professional English Teacher Certificate (PETC) and Cambridge TKT.
Five High-Growth Career Tracks for PETC + Cambridge TKT Graduates
Unlike general subject teachers who are restricted to a single textbook syllabus, a certified Professional English Teacher with Cambridge TKT Bands 3–4 and BRETS practical training can work across five lucrative tracks simultaneously:
- Private CBSE, ICSE, IB & Cambridge International Schools: Serve as a Communicative English Faculty, Language Lab Head, or Primary/Middle/High School ELT Specialist across metro and Tier-2 cities.
- Spoken English, IELTS & Finishing Academies: Train adult learners, college students and healthcare/IT professionals in fluency, pronunciation and IELTS bands.
- Corporate Communication & Soft-Skills Training: Coach teams in IT corridors (Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Kochi, Gurugram, Noida, Mumbai) in business English and presentation skills.
- Global Online ESL & EdTech Platforms: Teach international students in Europe, East Asia, Latin America and the Gulf from home in India.
- Overseas School & Institute Placements: Apply to private academies and international schools across the Middle East (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain) and Southeast Asia.
What Employers Test in a Demo Class — and How PETC Prepares You
Every high-paying school or language academy hires on the strength of a 20-minute demonstration lesson. Candidates who lecture about grammar rules in the demo are rejected; candidates who stage a clear Warmer, Present–Practise–Produce (PPP) or Engage–Study–Activate (ESA) sequence, elicit speech from quiet learners using TPR, and correct errors without breaking fluency get hired immediately.
Across 60 hours over 3 months, BRETS PETC trains you through live demonstration, micro-teaching and continuous feedback so your demo lesson and your Cambridge TKT bands speak for themselves.
Enrol inside this window to hold the offer fee. Plus the Cambridge TKT entry fee, paid to the authorised exam centre.

- 3 months — 12 teaching weeks
- Mon – Fri — one hour a day
- Cambridge TKT — modules 1, 2 and 3
How the programme runs
Sixty hours of teacher training over three months, mixing live classes with online and recorded sessions, ending in the Cambridge English Teaching Knowledge Test.
Mixed content across 3 months — live classes, online and recorded sessions, and venue-based workshops where Cambridge or the exam centre ask for them. Not a video library you work through alone.
An hour a day is a timetable a working teacher can actually keep for twelve weeks.
New batches open through the week. Admissions confirm your commencement date once you enrol, so you start with a group at the same stage.
Taught by Nishad Ahmed Brets through demonstration, micro-teaching and continuous feedback — communicative language teaching, the direct, translation and TPR methods, principled eclecticism, warmers and energisers, PPP against ESA, and teaching grammar to learners who have to speak it.
The Cambridge qualification
The programme prepares you for, and enters you to, the TKT — Teaching Knowledge Test from Cambridge English (Cambridge University Press & Assessment) — the three core modules, examined one module at a time.
The language a teacher needs to describe language: grammar, lexis, phonology, the four skills, and how learners actually acquire them.
Planning a lesson and a sequence of lessons, selecting and adapting course material, and using the resources a real classroom has.
Classroom language, grouping and pacing, giving feedback, correcting error, and the teacher roles that make a class speak.
- Test format
- Each module is a single 80-minute multiple-choice test, sat on paper or on screen.
- How it is graded
- There is no pass or fail. Each module is reported in Bands 1 to 4, where Band 4 is extensive knowledge, and each module you sit earns its own Cambridge certificate.
- Entry fee
- Entry fees are set by the authorised Cambridge exam centre and are paid there, in addition to the course fee. Admissions confirm the current centre fee before you enter.
What you leave with
One certificate per module sat, issued by Cambridge English and recognised internationally, carrying your band for that module.
Issued online by Brets Pvt Ltd on completion, carrying your TKT band scores, and verifiable by any employer at bretsenglish.com/verify-certificate.
